HLT31120 Non-emergency patient transport program reflects the role of workforce participants in non-emergency patient transport services who provide non-emergency transport and care for patients who have non-acute, chronic illness or disability and require appropriate transportation and assistance, where time of response is not given high priority in comparison to emergency transport.

Study Pathways
After successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a Nationally Recognised Qualification for HLT311210 Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport.
The Units of Competency achieved in this qualification may provide credit towards a range of other health and related qualifications at Certificate III level and above with many students continuing with their pre-hospital care knowledge and training and moving into more advanced areas of study as a natural progression.
 
Course Objectives
The objectives of this qualification are to provide students with solid knowledge and skills to provide non-emergency transport services and care of patients with illnesses or disabilities.
These transport services are usually pre-arranged/booked and time of response is not a high priority in comparison to emergency transport, with workers providing appropriate patient assessment and handover, along with following procedures for patient movement and handling.
The course consists of 3 module phases e-Learning (self-paced online units), 9 days classroom and clinical placement that needs to include 6 patient transfers.
100% attendance to the classroom time is required due to the course content level.

  8. HLTOUT001 Implement safe access and egress
  9. HLTOUT007 Transport non-emergency patients under operational conditions
  10. HLTOUT010 Communicate in complex situations to support health care
  11. HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely

Entry Requirements
While the Qualification Framework does not stipulate entry requirements, Wilson Medic One prefers potential students to hold a valid driver's licence.  Students should be able to read and write at approximately year 12 levels.

Credit for skills and past study
Wilson Medic One mutually recognises Statement(s) of Attainment and qualifications issued by other RTO's.

Certification
Following the successful completion of the program, Qualification Testamur and Record of Achievement will be issued in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
