Course Outline:

HLTPAT005 - Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing
 **Please note It is an additional requirement of this course to complete 3 supervised collections within your own workplace. The supervision of candidate’s work activities must be by a person currently working in a collection role for at least 18 hours in a fortnight time period for example an Emergency Services Officer.

This Wilson Medic One course delivers the nationally recognised unit of competency HLTPAT005 Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing and will teach students how to perform drug and alcohol screening for workplace employees, following the Australian Standards.
 The program and associated materials having been designed such that they are in accordance with AS/NZS 4308:2008 and AS 4760:2006.

Course Objectives
This course delivers the nationally recognised unit of competency HLTPAT005 Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing and will teach students how to perform drug and alcohol screening for workplace employees, following the Australian Standards.
The objectives of this training are to provide students with the practical skills and understanding of the following areas:
  • Introduction to drug and alcohol screening
  • Identifying the type of request
  • Client care
  • Performing collection
  • Labelling and storage
  • Documentation
**Please note It is an additional requirement of this course to complete 3 supervised collections within your own workplace. If you are unable to do this in your own workplace, please contact us on 9350 9111 to discuss how we can assist you in completing this requirement.
Entry Requirements
Students should be able to read and write at in English to a high standard (equivalent to year 12 English)
 
Certification
Following the successful completion of the program a Statement of Attainment will be issued.
